Today was Julie's work baby shower that I co-hosted. Again, I volunteered to make cupcakes and cookies.
While making the cookie batter, I was quite surprised when I cracked the 2nd egg - Twins!!! I couldn't believe it. This was the first time I have ever seen this and even called Jeff in the kitchen to witness the event!
Not knowing how many people would attend the shower and extremely crunched for time, I needed a cookie shape that didn't require a lot of decorating. In fact, I needed something that I could make a lot of and required very little time to decorate. Thank God for Martha Stewart! I remembered seeing an umbrella shaped sugar cookie in her cookie book that was simply pipped (no flooding involved) and finished with sprinkles. Bingo!!

For the cupcakes, I used the MS One Bowl Chocolate cupcakes that I made last week. Not only were they super simple to make but the moistest cupcake I have ever made. The cupcakes were topped off with a homemade cream cheese frosting.
On a side note, I must show you the most delicate ribbon I purchased from Michaels for $1/roll for the shower. These are the vases from my wedding reception and I have been able to use them for several events. Just add a ribbon suited for the occasion and voila...

Not to mention I acquired 3 different umbrella shapes in my cookie collection that I finally put to use. Too bad all cookies couldn't be this easy to decorate.
I decided to use the package of silicone cups I received and to be honest....I'm not that impressed with them. Why should I do all the work to remove the cupcakes? Paper cups work just as well and there is no extra work involved...and clean up is a cinch. Cleaning these cups is a bitch! Hopefully the dishwasher can clean out all the ridges! Forgive me, but I can't figure out why these silicone cups are all the rage.....
And I must show off this fabulous group gift I wrapped.

Oh my God!!! What a mess in those silicone cups!
I knew there was a reason I wasn't using them.
The vases look adorable. Love the ribbon. Nice job on the cookies. And the cupcakes look great.
BTW does that chocolate recipe yeild like a million cupcakes for you? I swear I get about 30 out of it.
I found twin yolks last week, too. :) Of course, I ran around the house with the bowl showing everyone. My 10 y.o. son and friend weren't as impressed as I thought they should be!
Darling shower cookies. I've never seen that tall, skinny umbrella cookie before. So cute!
