Fresh Produce & Boiled Peanuts

A friend at work told me about the great produce prices at the local flea market, so I checked it out Saturday morning.

I picked up peaches and 1 lb of raw peanuts. Since the prices were amazingly cheap, Jeff and I headed back Sunday morning for more produce and equipped with bags to carry everything.

2 buckets of peaches = $4.00. Such a steal compared to grocery store prices. Stay tuned....I'll be posting a blog on July 31st letting you know how I used these peaches!

Sunday, we picked up two pineapples, a watermelon, 8 lemons, 7 limes, 5 tomatoes and another pound of raw peanuts = $14.50.

Now, I am a true Floridian, born and raised. Not sure if that counts as being a "Southern" or not, but it must be said that I love boiled peanuts!!! I grew up eating them at fairs, flea markets, sporting events, a stop on the side of road and homemade. You name it...we were a boiled peanut eating family!
A few weeks ago, I checked the produce section for boiled peanuts and the package couldn't have even been one pound and they were a little over $9. I couldn't believe it! Since they were only $1.50 a pound at the market, I decided to make some boiled peanuts this weekend. Yummo!!!
They are so easy to make. All you need is a large pot, water, peanuts, salt and about 5 hours! :)
