Fun, Food & Fireworks

The fourth of July was a fun filled day for us. First, we started off with a pitcher of Bloody Marys while we watched the movie New In Town. It was pretty good.

Then, we made a shrimp boil. One of my favorite meals because it is so easy. One pot of boiling water and gradually add ingredients. It doesn't get any easier than that!

I was super excited to use my new tray. I have an odd obsession for trays and beverage buckets!!
Later that day went to an Irish Pub for beers before the fireworks show on the St. John's River.

Before the show, I lit up some sparklers which attracted the surrounding munchkins. The sparklers were a hit!

Friday we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Mellow Mushroom, for dinner and ordered the Buffalo Chicken pizza. It was amazingly delish and I was determined to try it at home.

Nothing beats homemade pizza dough. However, it requires quite a lot of forethought being that the breadmaker takes an hour and a half to make the dough. So, it is rare that we have homemade dough.

Super simple to make - chicken, bacon, wing sauce, ranch dressing, carmelized onions. It turned out super yummy. Jeff was even impressed! However, it wasn't exactly like Mellow Mushroom because their dough is to die for. And, the wing sauce we selected was a bit hot and we are waiting for heart burn to set in....
Knowing that I would use the breadmaker for pizza dough, I decided to make cinnamon raisin bread Saturday morning. Let me tell you the truth about my breadmaker. I received the breadmaker as a graduation gift nine years ago. I have used it a handful of times because I have yet to make a successful loaf of bread. Needless to say, something always seems to go wrong and this time was no different. Somehow I managed to not hear the 14 beep notification to add Raisins/Nuts. So....about an hour into the cycle I realized this and quickly added the raisins. Thankfully some of the raisins made it into the loaf, the rest stuck to the outside :). Overall, the bread turned out very tasty.

Sunday morning I thought the bread would be great for French Toast and it was!!

The girls spend most of the weekend on the porch which means we end up air conditioning most of Jacksonville because we leave the sliding glass door open enough for them to come in and out as they please. As each weekend gets hotter and hotter, we decided it was smart to invest in a doggy door for the sliding glass door.
We tried training them today, but I am afraid it may take them a while to figure it out!!!!

We gave the girls a Frosty Paw this evening and I just had to capture this. Sabrett always carries her cup while she finds a private place to enjoy!

This evening...the couch!

And Elliot.....She just digs right in!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

The pizza and french toast look awesome. At one time I had TWO bread makers. After several years of not using either one of them, I gave them away.
I did have to make challah for my clients back in my private chef days and she had me use her bread machine. As far as I know everything came out fine.
