Back To Cookies

The vacation is over and it is back to work on Monday and back to cookies. Saturday I delivered my first cookies of the new year for a baby shower - strollers, onesies and rattles. Also, I am working out the details of a large order for the end of January. I will keep you posted.

My mother-n-law gave me a couple of cookbooks for Christmas which included Martha Stewart Cookies, Hello, Cupcake, and Sweet Melissa's Baking Book. Friday I made Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies (Page 87) and Chocolate Sandwiches (Page 235) from the MS Cookies cookbook. The Chocolate cookies were a little frustrating because the frosting did not turn out right and I had to improvise in order to thicken it up. This is the second recipe I have made where the frosting is too runny. I am following the recipe, yet something keeps going wrong. They still tasted yummy.

My in-laws came up on Saturday, so I made up treat bags for them. As much as I LOVE to bake, it's rare that I will eat more than one or two cookies....so I have to give my goods away or take them into the office.

On a side note....for all of you dog owners, have you heard of Frosty Paws? Let me tell you, they are the best little snack because they keep your pup occupied for a while! My girls love them. Sabrett carries her cup around to a spot where Elliot can't bother her. It's really funny watching her carry the cup around in her mouth. This is Sabrett in her bed:

She cracks me up. This is a view from behind. Her butt is hanging over the bed and what is up with her front leg? That can't be comfortable...

And this is little Elliot enjoying her treat..

I found that hello cupcake book Friday and wanted to get it! They look like fun to make.

I love Sabrett's foot in that one photo. I have gotten Frosty Paws for Kiwi before. She liked them too!

I think it might be the humidity that causes your frosting to be runny. Try adding less liquid.
I find sometimes I have to adjust the liquid in my royal icing because of the humidity or lack of.
Love the Frosty Paws, although Lily hasn't tried them yet, our Lucy LOVED them.
Also, LOVE the green KS bag in the post below. I once got one at Filene's Basement for $29. (on sale, plus employee discount makes for a very nice price). Love her bags I have 7 of them!!
