Why I'm Here

I started this blog about 5 months ago to document my progress with La Belle Cookie. When I first started this blog and even created my website, I had no idea that people would even be interested in my cookies, let alone pay for them! It has been amazing to see the support from everyone and the clientele I have already established in a very short period of time.

The thought of possibly owning my own business (a bakery) one day scares me. To be honest, I love my day job. In case you don't know....I work at the University of North Florida. I manage the operating budget and personnel processes for the division of Enrollment Services. It's a big job and I love, love, love it. I have been at UNF for 5 years; UNF is also my alma mater. It helps that I work in a very small office with four other women and have the best boss ever. (don't worry...I'm not sucking up...she doesn't read my blog:). She is truly an amazing person. Anyways.....the thought of not doing what I do every day, the security of my future and retirement scares the poop out of me. Not to mention, I have a bachelor's in Business Management and I learned two major things from college - one being that some odd percentage (ha...I didn't listen that close in class) of start up businesses fail. (I'll talk about the other in another post). My fear is that I will be one of those statistics with a large amount of debt. No thank you!!!

So, I am taking it one day at a time. Over the next year or so, if I see that there is continued interest in my cookies, I will pursue the next step. That is, if a) Food Network discovers me or b) I win the lottery. Kidding...neither one of those will ever happen so I am on my own with this one :) But until then, I will take on orders as time permits and continue loving my day job!
