Saturday we invited my in-laws over for a cook-out. Instead of using the grill, we decided to buy a smoker. We didn't buy anything fancy, not knowing how often we will actually use it. Plus we needed something compact because we have very little space.
We smoked ribs and chicken. My intent was to smoke chicken wing drumettes and instead bought drumsticks. Oops.
Smoking is quite an experience and it was quite a challenge maintaining the proper temperature over 6 hours.
We used a dry rub on the ribs and they turned out fantastic and just salt & pepper on the chicken.
For sides I made a tomato, cucumber, mozzarella, and basil salad with a balsamic dressing.
And roasted potatoes with olive oil, rosemary and parsley.
And dessert - cheesecake. The recipe is from Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook.
I overcooked it slightly but it still tasted delish!!!!!!!!!!
