I have eyed Barefoot Contessa's Chocolate Buttercream Cake ever since I got the cookbook and finally decided to make it for game night with E&E.
Seriously, I have never tasted anything so amazing. This is hands down the best desert I have ever made and possibly ever tasted.
If you want the recipe, post a comment with your email address and I can email it to you. Food Network doesn't have the same recipe on their website as the cookbook.
The making of the cake...
The making of the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. The recipe on Food Network's website is slightly different than the one in the cookbook. The recipe was a little challenging because it required a meringue base but was worth the challenge.
Warning: I would recommend eating along with a glass of milk!

MMM, chocolate cake...
Isn't a European butter cream the greatest!!
The cake looks incredible!
Hey, do you find it difficult to get the dome over the cake without wrecking it??
I've had that same cookbook for years and have never made that cake. It looks wonderful! Thanks for inspiring me to try it!!!
I can feel the pounds adding up already! ;)
Ok, Melissa....my husband's birthday is coming up and I'm thinking about making this cake. Two questions for you...
1. Did it make enough frosting? I read on someone's blog that it made too little (and they had to make more) and on another blog that it made too much.
2. Did you store it in the fridge? Did you make it in advance? (OK, that was 3 questions.) :)
