Last year we hired a company to reface our kitchen cabinets and install granite counter tops. This year, we are getting around to redoing the tile in the kitchen, foyer and half bath. We have horrible circa 1983 tile and I can't wait to see it gone.
Now, Jeff and I are quite the handy couple. We tackle most all of our house projects. So, when it came to doing the tile, we figured we could take up the tile and hire someone to lay the new tile. On Friday, I had an estimate done and Saturday we went to the show room to pick out our tile. This is all very exciting!!!!
Now on to our project. .....After picking out tile, we came home and started ripping up tile in the foyer.

A chisel and hammer is all you need, right? Yeah...we were pretty naive. If we would have continued on this route, we would be chiseling for the next 3 years....

This morning we went to Home Depot and rented a mack daddy power tool to rip out the tile.

Needless to say, this project created quite a mess. The entire first floor is covered in a layer of dust. ERR!

I use power tools, too!!!

After ripping up the tile comes the thin set cement. Now this was a pain in the butt to get up and created even more of a mess.

After about 15 minutes of this, we threw in the towel and decided Monday morning we will call the tile company and have them do all the work. It just isn't worth our time and energy!!!!!!!
